Quit being a wimp!

Come on, let's really be honest. So many times we follow God when it is easy to follow Him, but when it gets hard we abandon ship. I mean, wouldn't it be a lot easier to just follow his calling and his commands for our lives? So many times we just choose our own way. Our way may provide some of our basic needs but God really wants to bless us. So we need to quit listening to ourselves and get out of the way for God to move! So the question becomes: How do we get out of the way so that we can see Him move? The answer is: we become obedient, no matter the cost. Sometimes being obedient to God will cost us friends, sometimes it will cost us some upset parents or family, sometimes even money. Sometimes our jobs! I want you to remember that there are many martyrs for the name of Jesus who die everyday. So it can even cost us our life! We need to quit being self-centered and start being God-centered, so that we can get out of the way in order for God to move.

Great Blog By Steven Furtick

A lot of the time we’re scared
I bounce back and forth, basically addressing 2 audiences on this blog:
1. Church attendees
2. Other church leaders

Today I’m speaking to the 1st group on behalf of the 2nd.

Your pastor won’t appreciate you telling me this, because we preachers like to look cool and confident.
But if he’s a good pastor, here’s the deal:
Every single day he seriously doubts whether the heck he has any freaking clue what he’s doing.

That’s because if he’s a good leader, he’s always stretching.
Always living in the discomfort zone: the place between what God has said to do and the understanding of how to do it.

He wonders all the time if he has what it takes to do what God said to do.

And daily he asks God under his breath: “Did I get this right? Are we headed in the right direction here?”

And then as soon as he gets his legs under him and feels like “I can handle this” God leg sweeps him and changes the rules.
All so this can happen.

Every Saturday night he wonders if all the people will show up again.
And every Sunday afternoon he’s amazed and humbled that they did.

Oh yeah, you should also know that he feels like his sermon sucked a lot of Sundays. And he wishes he wouldn’t have said some of the things he said well into Monday afternoon.

I have been around some guys with very well known ministries lately, and it turns out they’re scared a lot of the time too.

One of them said he often feels like “a kid on a bike riding downhill on gravel”.

Another one said he stands up and tells the people “Let’s go!” and then gets in his car and asks God: “Where are we going?”

But mark this:
Your pastor wouldn’t have it any other way.
A vision that didn’t make him feel schizophrenic sometimes wouldn’t be worth sacrificing for.
A ministry that didn’t require uncertainty wouldn’t be worth getting out of bed for.

Here’s to being a leader who’s terrified a lot of the time.
And here’s to the corresponding peace and courage that only God can provide.

If the time ever comes when I’m not a little afraid about what God is telling me to do next…
then I have something to really be scared about.

Easter

"Easter" What a great day! We had 290 in attendance. For a church that six months old in a community that is in premature state of growth thats not that bad! I want to thank everybody that served and all that they did. With out you it would have been impossible to pull it off the way that we did. It felt good preaching the same sermon twice. I would love to do that more often both messages had the same content, but were both different. "Thats wild!" It was a lot of fun. I can't wait to see what God is going to do next Easter!

ARE YOU READY FOR EASTER!

I never knew how much had to do to plan an Easter Week man it is mind blowing what all has to be done. Well it is Friday and I am blogging about it but I still have lots to do! I can't wait to see what God is going to do through Cross View this Easter weekend. We are having 2 services this weekend a 9:30 and 11:00 and we are praying that their will be standing room only because our hope is that many people will come out this weekend to hear the message of Eternal Hope. We have sent out the mailers, put up signs in the community and our band is getting ready to rock Rockmart! I am so excited everyday I really feel that i am right in the middle of a great movement of GOD. Authentic revival!

Let's Hunt

I am excited about this week end I mean it is great to be out in the community doing everything you can to reach out to the community in the name of Jesus. We are setting up a bounce house and we will have popcorn and icees even though it's cold.
It's going to be a lot of fun for all ages. Make sure that you bring your friends and all the kid that you can because we have a lot planned. A little music a lot of eggs, and give always. man it is going to be fun.

Washing Feet

Man yesterday was great! I had an awesome opportunity to speak at the Methodist Church in Rockmart and it was a great opportunity to get to know some people who have been part of this community for a long time. I really appreciate the openness in which I was received by the ministerial association. Pastor Greg at the First Baptist Church made the comment that I was the most innovative pastor and he loved to see a pastor wearing "Jesus Gliders" He was referring to my flip flops. But it was a great day to lift up Jesus name and make him famous.
